Young adults trade sweat equity for environmental education in this summer work/learn/earn program that benefits both person and park!

They not only provide national research to Cornell Lab of Ornithology and Bird Studies’ Project Feederwatch; they also allow the community to take part through our BIRD Program!

Urban Naturalist

The goals of our Urban Naturalist program are clear: get urban youth outside and excited about the natural world and biodiversity; help them develop a level of comfort being in the outdoors; promote a connection to and appreciation of nature and wildlife, and foster a feeling of responsibility in caring for and protecting the environment.

PEN Pals- People Exploring Nature Program

For 31 years, the People Exploring Nature Program has partnered with Metro Parks to bring economically disadvantaged youth to Warner Parks for a unique environmental educational experience: overnight camping in the park. The impact of this experience is immediately witnessed in the 150+ campers each year, many of whom for which this will be their first overnight outdoor experience.
