Spring Educational Opportunities at the Nature Center

Shared by WPNC Naturalist Heather Gallagher

After a pandemic and a snowstorm, we are ready for signs of spring and opportunities to get outside. Such is ahead on the schedule, and so too do we have some spring-fling virtual programming!

Virtual and In-Person Programming

Any day now, the Bloodroot will be flowering in the wildflower garden. Learn more about this special wildflower at our Early Spring Wildflower webinar on March 9 (register here). Or perhaps you prefer on-the-ground learning? Observe the glory of Virginia Bluebells during our Old Roadway Wildflower hike on March 24 (register here).

Nature School in Session

Attend one of our free school-age programs during MNPS Spring Break (March 12-19)  to:

  • Visit really cool geologic sites in Warner Parks
  • Hike the Burch Reserve with Naturalists
  • Learn practical ways to ‘go green’ in Nashville
  • Explore Frist pond, listening for and observing American toads singing and mating

All Season Long

So too will our new StoryWalk be unveiled, featuring a read-along while walking the ¼ mile Little Acorn Trail located right behind the Nature Center!

Overall, we have a wonderful array of environmental educational opportunities for all ages, all season long. Check out the entire schedule here, and we can’t wait to see you in session!

*Please note that masks and social distancing are required at all in-person Nature Center programs. We will be adhering to all recommendations for safety, and will communicate adjustments to participants when necessary. *
